Alice Frampton, haiku and children’s poet, was born in 1953 in the Pacific Northwest. Boating and swimming were her childhood hobbies. In 1973, she got married, moved to British Columbia, and taught preschool. In 2000, she sent her first submission to Frogpond. With encouragement from editor, Jim Kacian, she learned haiku. In 2004 she was elected pacifi-kana regional coordinator for Haiku Canada and in 2008 became an associate editor for The Heron’s Nest. Frogpond, The Heron’s Nest, Red Moon Anthologies, Haiku Canada Newsletter, Echoes, and Carpe Diem, among others, have published her work. “a gate left open” is her first book (Red Moon Press 2009).
