Angela Terry is a Seattle-born poet, who started writing haiku seriously in 2004 although she had been familiar with the genre for decades. It seemed a natural fit for her, with her love of the outdoors. Following attendance at the 2005 Haiku North America conference in Port Townsend, she decided the time had come to retire after thirty-five years in the insurance industry. She then immersed herself in gardening and haiku, subsequently becoming president of both her local garden club and of Haiku Northwest. She is a past member of the Haiku Society of America Executive Committee, and has served as the HSA Regional Coordinator for the Northwest region incorporating both Washington and Alaska, two of the most beautiful places on earth.


Angela’s haiku have been published in anthologies, print and online journals, featured in contests and translated into several languages. She also experiments with photo haiga and writes the occasional haibun. Her interest in Japanese culture and gardening have come full circle in the last couple of years, as she has become a docent in the Seattle Japanese Garden.
