Lorin Ford is an Australian writer who came to haiku from writing longer poems. Growing up in the Seaford Beach/Kananook Creek area and in Croajingolong country, East Gippsland, formed her sense of belonging to the natural world. She now lives in Wurundgeri country, close to the city of Melbourne. A former teacher, Lorin also has a Dip. Prof. Editing and Writing, and currently enjoys the role of haiku editor for the online journal, Notes From the Gean.
Lorin’s haiku have been widely published in Australian and overseas journals and anthologies including the Red Moon Anthologies 2008, 2009 and 2010, Montage:The Book (2010) and A New Resonance #7 (2011). Her credits include first prize in the 6th and 7th paper wasp Jack Stamm awards in 2005 and 2006, first prize in the Shiki Salon Annual Haiku Awards 2005 – free format category, Winner and runner-ups – The Haiku Calendar Competition 2010, Winner – The Haiku Calendar Competition 2011 and first prize – THF’s Haiku Now! 2010 Contest – contemporary category.
