What would I tell you,
If you were here? How the moon
          Grows used to the earth

- Peter Meister

Author Bio

Peter Meister (b. 1948) was raised in Ohio and Indiana. Protesting the Viet Nam war was the formative experience of his early adulthood, a trauma from which he partially recovered by admitting he loved books and could lose and find himself in them. Associate professor of German (emeritus) at The University of Alabama in Huntsville, Peter still grieves over the United States’ economic devotion to war, but – not blind to religion’s violent convulsions – prays we will let the Invisible guide us toward peace and other habits that bode well for posterity. Peter lives in New Hope, Alabama with his wife Sarah Loach Meister, a church and early music soprano.
