Susan Antolin fell in love with modern Japanese poetry while living in Japan in the late 1980’s. Her work has appeared in journals and anthologies in the U.S. and abroad and has garnered several awards, including the Touchstone Award from the Haiku Foundation in 2014. She is the editor of Acorn: a Journal of Contemporary Haiku, the newsletter editor for the Haiku Poets of Northern California, and the author of Artichoke Season (2009). She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area near the foothills of Mount Diablo where she finds inspiration on the trails as well as from her husband, children, two dogs, and her mother, whose age-related health adventures frequently find their way into haiku.
