Barrie Levine began writing short form haiku in 2020 after retiring from her career as a Massachusetts divorce lawyer and mediator. She has found joy and purpose in studying, writing, and sharing her haiku in workshops, conferences, and various online and print journals. Aside from founding a Montessori School in 1990, and teaching writing courses at her local senior center, she considers embarking on a haiku journey her most life-affirming experience.
Barrie’s work has appeared in various print and online journals, including Akitsu Quarterly, bottle rockets, Cold Moon Journal, #FemkuMag, Frogpond, The Heron’s Nest, Prune Juice, Stardust Haiku, Tricycle Monthly Challenge, tsuridoro, and Wales Haiku Journal. She has been recognized in several contests, including Gerald Brady Senryu Award, KatiKati Contest, Marlene Mountain Memorial Contest, 4th Annual Maya Lyubenova Contest, Museum of Haiku Literature Award, Tokutomi Memorial Haiku Contest, and Touchstone Award for Individual Poem Short List.
Barrie published a collection of her haiku and senryu in 2022 entitled Cotton Moon.
