Scott Mason’s new book, The Wonder Code: Discover the Way of Haiku and See the World with New Eyes, was introduced last month at Haiku North America 2017 in Santa Fe, NM and received there with great enthusiasm. Cor van den Heuvel claims that no one since R. H. Blyth and Harold Henderson has more successfully shown “how such a small form of poetry is able to create works that can move us more vividly and directly than longer ones.” Michael McClintock asserts that “The Wonder Code is a superb piece of work and a book that I think over time will be read and re-read for generations.” More information, including how to order, can be found at
Scott serves as an editor with The Heron’s Nest. In the past fifteen years he has been the recipient of over 150 haiku awards, including first place finishes in more than 20 international competitions. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Katonah Poetry Series, now in its fifty-first year, near his home in Westchester County, NY.
Towards the end of this month – from October 26-9 – Scott will be the featured guest presenter at the tenth annual Seabeck Haiku Getaway, sponsored by Haiku Northwest, on Washington State’s Kitsap Peninsula (
